So evidently there's some great summer reading on the horizon. Any thoughts?
Ok, not the best thread title, but I just literally love alliteration.

I’m reading a techno thriller at the moment after finishing Area 51 by Annie Jacobson and a Sam Sykes novel. Life is too short to stay immersed in this stupid crap 24/7.

The title is worded funny. Don't know who was banned, butler or the book?

I humbly request that our moderator please change the title of this dumb thread
Two suggestions:
1) Butler begrudgingly buys Bolton's book before it's banned (Please note: The ambiguous reference is removed while the alliterative title still remains)
2) Alg-y's aggressively annoying attempt at an absurd and asinine alliteration
I prefer the latter, but either one is better than the one we have now
Thank you!

From what little I've heard it promises to be a fun read. Can't wait!
Meanwhile, Ache is waiting for The Room Where It Happened to come out as a coloring book.

I heard it was wicked boring From the NYT review: The book is bloated with self-importance, even though what it mostly recounts is Bolton not being able to accomplish very much. It toggles between two discordant registers: exceedingly tedious and slightly unhinged."Exceedingly tedious and slightly unhinged" Except for the "slightly" part, it sounds like the reviewer is describing Tampon Boy, doesn't it? Let's hope the coloring book edition has more punch

Uhmmmmm.... yeah, I did. "Jacobsen shows herself at a minimum extraordinarily gullible or journalistically incompetent." Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Richard Rhodes re: Area 51Again..... seems right up your alley.

Too much fantasy breeds conspiracy theories like a zombie apocalypse, dressing up for comic com in your favorite fantasy character in hopes to give it some realism, while warping your sense of reality to avoid the truth. To each their own i guess, especially these days.

To each their own i guess, especially these days. I dunno, man. A book ( Area 51)that claims that Joseph Stalin sent a Nazi-designed flying disc filled with 13-year-olds with surgically enlarged heads into the United States to scare Americans as part of a black propaganda hoax modeled after The War of the Worlds seems pretty down to Earth to me. Right?

Sci-Fi and Fantasy writers will be the first ones to tell you it's all made up in their heads. Then their sci-fi and fantasy made up worlds fall into the hands of gullible people with low self esteem and insignificance and it takes on a life of it's own. Did someone say religion?

Right? That's not Annie's claim. That's what she was told. I don't believe it either. Nevertheless, that's a tiny part of the book. As I said, the book is about our nuclear program and our stealth flight technology. It's very well done.

Boy that Bolton book sure caused a stir. But I thought you liked go nowhere things. Pretty much every thread you post goes nowhere. Still though.... new book by a relative.... juicy, I'm sure. There's no stopping what's coming.

Off topic, but kinda related, has everyone heard the tape of Trumps VERY OWN SISTER talking about her very own brother (the brain dead one, not the dead dead one)? Not too flattering, eh?

She says trump paid someone to take his SATs for him. It's nice when daddy has money to spend on a good bought education. No wonder he hates science, knows nothing about math, can't read or write simple tweets and podium prompts nevermind the constitution, and doesn't even have a basic understanding how the world works. He only knows his simple base doesn't care about that stuff. MAGA.

So let's see what this thread contains.... so far.... 1 book by Bolton (former national security adviser) The Room Where It Happened. Claims Trump practiced "obstruction of justice as a way of life. 1 book by Cohen (former personal lawyer) Disloyal: A Memoir. Claims it "will reveal multiple cases of criminality, backed by 'evidence'" 1 book by Mary Trump (niece) Too Much and Never Enough. Calls Donald "a Traumatized Narcissist", claims he cheated on the SAT. 1 Audio tape of Maryann Trump Barry (sister) saying "His goddamned tweet and lying, oh my God..... The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy sh*t"

Then I stand corrected. Truth be told, I cant keep track either. Is there any book out there that says something positive about this disaster in office?

Oh dear. Another book. By Bob Woodward. With actual audio of Trump. Evidently Trump admits to downplaying Covid 19.
So many books, so little hands.
