The reason? So that unofficial election results can more quickly be relayed to the public. Those modems connect to cell phone networks, which, in turn, are connected to the internet.
You have to be quite a hacker to reverse engineers these systems and until it's proven (and it hasn't), I think Mike Lindell would be the last Maga Moron to speak intelligently on cyber hacks. Cyber security is my game and no one puts a piece of hardware in place these days without severe interrogation of holes within the software. If any are found, alarms go off and lockdowns are implemented and the device is rendered ineffective until a fix is produced.
