boston.cbslocal.com/audio/nightside-with-dan-rea/ NightSide - A Local Psychiatrist on Trump’s Mental State Wednesday, February 15th 01:19:21 As we mentioned earlier this week, there has been a lot of talk in the media over President Trump’s mental health and whether or not he is stable enough to hold the office. Dr. Robert Pyles, former president of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, explains why he believes everything we’ve seen from the President falls in the normal range, and that some may be projecting their politics into their long-distance diagnoses.

Larry Glick? Wow. He'll pull in that younger demographic that all the sponsors love, huh?
Don't know Dean Jonson or Marissa DeFranco. Are they any good? Did you listen to them?

I'm afraid nighttime talk radio is going the way of the dodo bird.
It's too bad, a lot of regular listeners that are up at night depend upon it. It' kind of a community for them.
Dean Johnson was on about every 3rd weekend and filled in here and there. He was good, maybe too intellectual for some.
There are only 3 left. Dan Rea, Bradley Jay, Morgan White Jr (weekends).

Although I no longer do so, when I was a kid I used to love listening to late night talk radio
There are still national shows to listen to during the overnight hours, I believe, but nothing beats local
Sad to learn WBZ is pulling back on its local talk line-up

Yeah ... quite the sterling endorsement:
Dr. Robert Pyles of suburban Boston, who supports President Trump, said: "I can see what people are responding to" when they suggest there has been a decline. He added: "[Trump's] language difficulties could be due to the immense pressure he's under, or to annoyance that things aren't going right and that there are all these scandals. It could also be due to a neurodegenerative disease or the normal cognitive decline that comes with aging."

It's over! Overnight talk radio, that is. I hope Morgan White Jr gets to stay... No news on Dan Rea, yet. Not a fan. www.facebook.com/Bradley-Jay-listeners-forum-111548880254240/www.universalhub.com/2020/wbz-radio-drops-deb-lawler-whod-been-readingNews is breaking that WBZ Newsradio's owner, IHeartMedia, has let a number of long-time on-air employees go. Among them:, Deb Lawler, who'd been at the station for 35 years and who'd been reading the news in the morning since 1992, Scott Fybush reports. A station insider says she was called into a closed-door meeting this morning and that was it. Just last month, the station posted the above celebration of her 35 years at the station. Jon Keller reports the station told him today his commentating service were also no longer needed, after 30 years, although presumably, he still has a job at WBZ-TV, which is still owned by CBS. Also getting the axe: Overnight talk-show host Bradley Jay and sports anchor Tom Cuddy.

I think Bradley was fired, just speculation, of course. But I would not be surprised if they introduce a new overnight talk show host in the near future.

Well, that sucks
I hate to see local radio programming replaced by national programming, which is mostly garbage IMO, if in fact that is what is happening at WBZ overnight
I hope not
Any updates, Robin?
I notice a lot of the posters at that universalhub site hate Dan Rae lol
I have to admit when I see those Window World ads he does on tv, I quickly flip the station. They are super annoying
PS I've been off the grid the last two weeks, otherwise I would have responded to your posts sooner

Hi, Ache
Yeah, over a week now and not a word. He must have been fired. A lot of upset regular callers out there that had come to depend on the show as a pseudo community. Lonely souls, up most of the night. Some with physical ailments, mental health issues, and everything in-between. Regular Joes called in too :) I wonder if they are interviewing for his job. Bradley did go off on tangents and I'm thinking he must have annoyed the bosses. Morgan is on Friday night (midnight) into Saturday am and Saturday night (midnight) into Sunday am.
Listening to news over and over again all night long is not relaxing. Tried the NPR channel (pre-taped stuff) but it's not the same, though it will have to do.
Yes, Dan is annoying, selling pillows, windows, weight loss clinics, sheets. He is so arrogant. If a caller doesn't agree with him he will talk over him and pretty much terminate the call. However, he does seem to have an interesting guest from time to time and he still has his interviewing skills. I don't think he has any plans to retire (despite his age). Can't say that I blame him, lol

Listening to WBZ News in the background, Dan just came on selling roofs, then another commercial selling financial planning (I think it was Dan again, I could be wrong)

They replaced the overnight talk with news? Ugh. Probably the same broadcast repeated every half hour too, I bet
Sounds like dullsville to me. Not something people who are up all night want to listen to IMO
If I were a regular listener, I would be pretty angry right now

I kind of saw it coming, but I never thought it would happen so abruptly. They didn't even give Bradley a chance to say goodbye :(

Bailing out of its overnight talk format so abruptly (and without warning) after being in the local overnight talk radio business for over fifty years is a lousy thing to do
Pretty shabby way for WBZ to treat its listeners who have been loyal to the station for so long
I hope its ratings go in the tank

Morgan was on this weekend. Not clear where they are going with this, I have a feeling they are going to replace Bradley...

Did he mention the overnight programming situation much, or did he try to avoid talking about it?

Morgan refuses to discuss it. Same thing with Dan. Morgan says nothing good will come from talking about it.

Yeah, he's probably happy to still have his own job at this point and doesn't want to risk losing it/piss management off by discussing the overnight situation on air
Best not to rock the boat
